 1 Install TreeTagger

 Install TreeTagger tutorial for TXM

To be able to automatically tag morphosyntactically and to lemmatize your corpora during the import process, you need to install the TreeTagger(*) software and to tell the TXM platform where it was installed. To do so, please follow those simple steps (it's not a complete install of TreeTagger, but a simplified install for TXM):

1. download the TreeTagger program archive from http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/projekte/corplex/TreeTagger

2.
3. Unzip in a directory, for example :

 Windows: "C:\Program Files\TreeTagger"
 Linux: "/home/<username>/TreeTagger"

4.
5. Download a TreeTagger language model file for each language you need to tag a text for (in the UTF8 format, not ISO-Latin-1)

6.
7. Unzip and rename each model file as 'fr.par' for french, 'it.par' for italian and 'afr.par' for old french in the directory of your choice. For example, in a "Models" directory that you create in the TreeTagger directory (where you have unziped TreeTagger archive).
8.
9. Finally, in a running TXM, open the settings (from the menu Tools/Settingss) and edit the TXM / Advanced / NLP / TreeTagger page fields

1. For the 'TreeTagger install dir' field put the path to the directory where you unzip it
2.
3. For the 'TreeTagger models directory' field put the path to the directory where you put your model files (fr.par, it.par...)
4.

10.

You can now restart a new import process to test the new tagger.

If you can't manage the install process, please contact the TXM users mailing list (txm-users@cru.fr) after subscription at https://listes.cru.fr/sympa/subscribe/txm-users.

(*) TreeTagger licence prohibits to deliver TreeTagger embeded in a commercial software. As TXM licence doesn't prevent anyone to do business with TXM, we can not include TreeTagger in the TXM distribution.
