Install TreeTagger tutorial for TXM
12
</h1>
13
<p>
14
To be able to automatically tag morphosyntactically and to lemmatize your corpora during the import process,
15
you need to install the TreeTagger(*) software and to tell the TXM platform where it was installed. To do so, please follow those simple steps
16
(it's not a complete install of TreeTagger, but a simplified install for TXM):
17
</p>
18
<ol>
19
<li>
20
download the TreeTagger program archive from http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/projekte/corplex/TreeTagger
21
<ul>
22
<li>
23
Windows: <a href="ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-windows-3.2.zip">ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-windows-3.2.zip</a>
24
</li>
25
<li>
26
Linux: <a href="ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-linux-3.2.tar.gz">ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-linux-3.2.tar.gz</a>
27
</li>
28
<li>
29
Mac: <a href="ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-MacOSX-3.2-intel.tar.gz">ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/tree-tagger-MacOSX-3.2-intel.tar.gz</a>
30
</li>
31
</ul>
32
</li>
33
<li>
34
Unzip in a directory, for example :
35
<p>
36
Windows: "C:\Program Files\TreeTagger"
37
<br/>
38
Linux: "/home/&lt;username&gt;/TreeTagger"
39
</p>
40
</li>
41
<li>
42
Download a TreeTagger language model file for each language you need to tag a text for (in the UTF8 format, not ISO-Latin-1)
43
<ul>
44
<li>
45
French model (UTF-8): <a href="ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/french-par-linux-3.2-utf8.bin.gz">ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/french-par-linux-3.2-utf8.bin.gz</a>
46
</li>
47
<li>
48
Old French model BFM - no lemma (UTF-8): <a href="http://bfm.ens-lyon.fr/IMG/zip/rgaqcj.zip">http://bfm.ens-lyon.fr/IMG/zip/rgaqcj.zip</a>
49
</li>
50
<li>
51
Italian model (UTF-8): <a href="ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/italian-par-linux-3.2-utf8.bin.gz">ftp://ftp.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/corpora/italian-par-linux-3.2-utf8.bin.gz</a>
52
</li>
53
</ul>
54
</li>
55
<li>
56
Unzip and rename each model file as 'fr.par' for french, 'it.par' for italian and 'afr.par' for old french in the directory of your choice.
57
For example, in a "Models" directory that you create in the TreeTagger directory (where you have unziped TreeTagger archive).
58
</li>
59
<li>
60
Finally, in a running TXM, open the settings (from the menu Tools/Settingss) and edit the TXM / Advanced / NLP / TreeTagger page fields
61
<ol>
62
<li>
63
For the 'TreeTagger install dir' field put the path to the directory where you unzip it
64
</li>
65
<li>
66
For the 'TreeTagger models directory' field put the path to the directory where you put your model files (fr.par, it.par...)
67
</li>
68
</ol>
69
</li>
70
</ol>
71
<p>
72
You can now restart a new import process to test the new tagger.
73
</p>
74
<p>
75
If you can't manage the install process, please contact the TXM users mailing list (txm-users@cru.fr)
76
after subscription at <a href="https://listes.cru.fr/sympa/subscribe/txm-users">https://listes.cru.fr/sympa/subscribe/txm-users</a>.
77

79
<p>
80
(*) TreeTagger licence prohibits to deliver TreeTagger embeded in a commercial software. As TXM licence
81
doesn't prevent anyone to do business with TXM, we can not include TreeTagger in the TXM distribution.
